QUALITY CONTROL ENGINEER | OFFSHORE WIND DIVISION (OSW)

As a Quality Control Engineer, you will develop and implement offshore wind structural steel, electrical, concrete, and protective coatings fabrication and installation quality related work procedures reporting directly to the QA/QC Manager of Offshore Wind. Your responsibilities will include researching client technical specifications and industry standards to develop project specific procedures, creating mechanical completion and functional testing checklists for use in cloud-based inspection software, review and transmittal of quality related documents from suppliers, preparing quality related contractual deliverables, and communication with the client on technical and quality related items. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with interpreting client specifications and industry standards as related to Heavy Industrial construction projects. This is an administrative position at Riggs Distler headquarters in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Occasional travel to project site locations will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement offshore wind fabrication and assembly quality related work procedures
  • Implementation of project specific Project Quality Plan (PQP) to assure the quality of work performed is in accordance with contract requirements
  • Management of contractual and normative documents
  • Communication with client regarding quality related items
  • Management of Subcontractors quality related documentation
  • Uniformization within the project approach
  • Preparation of project specific quality documents
  • Monitoring the implementation of the approved quality documents in the organization
  • Solving of quality related issues
  • Provide technical and administrative support to Project Site Quality Management Team.
  • Reporting and communication of quality related items (progress, issues, delays) to Riggs Distler Project Management

EDUCATION, SKILLS EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Welding preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface with customer in a professional manner
  • Working knowledge and experience with NDT methods
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite is required. Must be able to create procedure templates (MS Word), develop presentations for the purpose of employee training/client communication (MS PowerPoint), develop spreadsheets to organize data and generate reports (MS Excel).
  • Bluebeam, Adobe Pro and Oracle Aconex experience is a plus
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new computer software
  • Strong working knowledge of welding, structural, and concrete construction codes
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Willing to take initiative, be proactive, highly motivated and capable of self-managing without direct supervision
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in an Engineering/Quality Management role in Heavy Industrial Construction
