As a Superintendent, you will support our seasoned project manager in ensuring goals, objectives, schedules, and budgets are achieved. You are also responsible for safety, quality, and overall performance on projects. This position will support our Underground Gas Utility Group in Mount Vernon, NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in establishing the Project-Specific Safety and Environment Plan
  • Promote and ensure work force is following safety rules and regulations
  • Assist the Project Manager in the development and implementation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and ensure it is communicated and understood internally and externally
  • Establish major construction work plans, JHA’s, and engineering methods
  • Work with municipalities to coordinate work and maintain open lines of communication
  • Interact with customers to schedule work and set up service appointments
  • Procure materials and services for projects by negotiating favorable terms with vendors
  • Routinely update project scheduling and coordinate with affected trades/vendors
  • Track progress of project and assess schedule and cost impacts
  • Provide labor and equipment production analysis and ongoing performance optimization
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing the Cost Control Estimate (CCE) and Contingency/Risk Report for internal review
  • Ensure project correspondence and records (paper and electronic) are properly managed and maintained. Track changes in construction specifications and drawings
  • Work hours can vary with possible night and/or weekend work

Education, Skills, Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or construction related field preferred, but not required if candidate has relevant experience
  • Northeast Gas Association (NGA) Qualifications preferred
  • OSHA safety training preferred
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in construction management in the underground utility field. Con Edison System knowledge preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers and RDC team members at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication, leadership and team building skills. Must have the ability to communicate information and state problems and challenges in a clear, concise, and professional manner
  • Ability to adapt to changing business requirements and accomplish multiple priorities
  • Self-directed, organized, and motivated to achieve goals
