Tier 1 Supplier for Secondary Steel Contracts

Key Highlights

In 2019, we began investing in the emerging offshore wind market as part of our commitment to renewable energy. We established a partnership with an international steel construction company with decades of experience in engineering, supply, assembly of steel components, and offshore wind projects, creating a strong supply chain for the U.S. market. In early 2020, we added another partner with a shared focus on sustainable energy and worked together through early project estimation and development. As we gained insight into offshore wind product lines and local supply chain requirements, these partnerships proved to be the right fir for our entry into the offshore wind sector.

Challenges and Results

We leveraged lessons learned from the European offshore wind fabrication industry and applied them to the U.S. market. We also spent significant time and effort developing a supply chain that strived to balance local content, cost effective supply, and union labor to benefit the economies and communities in each respective state where we have a project. In 2022 we were awarded the first U.S.-based Tier 1 contract for secondary steel for a 132-megawatt wind farm, marking our first foray into the offshore wind industry. We also completed several additional projects along the East Coast, including the Revolution Wind, Ocean Wind 1, and the Sunrise Wind project.
