As a Procurement & Subcontracting Manager, you will lead and oversee all procurement and subcontracting activities for large-scale heavy industrial and utility construction projects. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of equipment, materials, and services to meet project schedules and budgets. The Procurement Manager will collaborate closely with project management, engineering, estimating, and field operations to ensure procurement aligns with project goals, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. The salary range is $150,000.00 – $200,000.00.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for large industrial and utility construction projects
  • Forecast material, equipment, and subcontracting needs in alignment with project schedules
  • Evaluate and prequalify vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors with a focus on safety, quality, and capacity
  • Lead competitive bidding, RFPs, and negotiations to secure favorable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
  • Administer purchase orders and subcontracts in compliance with corporate policies and industry standards
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply chains
  • Manage claims, change orders, and dispute resolution with vendors and subcontractors
  • Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and engineers to define technical specifications and procurement requirements
  • Monitor supply chain logistics to prevent delays and minimize project risk
  • Ensure all materials and equipment meet project quality standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Track procurement performance against budget and schedule; recommend corrective actions as needed
  • Promote cost savings, process improvements, and innovation in procurement practices.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, contract obligations, and legal/regulatory requirements

 

 

Education, Skills, Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience will be considered
  • 7+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in heavy industrial, power, utilities, or EPC construction
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (NEC, AIA, or EPC terms)
  • Proven track record in sourcing large equipment (turbines, transformers, boilers, etc.), bulk materials, and specialty subcontractors
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Excellent computer skills with an emphasis on word and excel
  • Working Knowledge of JD Edward preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
