Riggs Distler’s Helping Hands is a philanthropic initiative run by our employees who volunteer their time to collaborate, empower and inspire their co-workers to give back to the communities where we live and work. Our goal is to identify opportunities and support organizations and programs that improve the lives of community members within our, and our clients’ geographic footprints. Healthy, thriving communities depend on involved citizens, organizations, and corporate partners for momentum.

Here are some of the initiatives we were involved in during 2021:

January

Clothing Drive Benefiting The Wardrobe 

  • Collected 25+ large bags of clothing to The Wardrobe.
  • This nonprofit organization outfits people for life with clothing to meet their needs.
  • Over the past 26 years, 100,000 individuals have transitioned from poverty, domestic violence, or incarceration to employment & independence with support from The Wardrobe.

March

Riverbend Environmental Education Center Sponsorship

  • REEC teaches environmental principles to children in Southeastern PA through a direct connection with nature, inspiring respect for our natural world, and action as aware, responsible and caring citizens.

April

LUCY Outreach

  • Sponsored Annual fundraiser to support multi-lingual, culturally responsive services to Camden County youth and young adults ages 7-28 and their families.

June

Ronald McDonald House-Philadelphia

  • Collected and dropped off a carload of snacks for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia.

St. Jude Walk/Run Champion Sponsor: Philadelphia 

  • Fundraising/Enrollment Kick Off Breakfast Event held across all RD Locations-raised our first $1k in 1 day.

Tar Heels Football Field-PA

  • Supplied and installed monument markers for field lining.
  • Donated new equipment and materials for field lining and repaired the field scoreboard.

July

American Red Cross Blood Drive

  • 32 Donors, which provided blood up to 87 hospital patients

LUCY Outreach

  • Collected Dorm Room Essentials for Camden Youth

Christmas Wish CT

  • Throughout the year, CWC is volunteer-only run organization holds fundraisers to buy food, gifts, clothing and more for community members in shelters.
  • RDHH donated $1,000 to help fulfill holiday wishes for children near our regional office in Connecticut.

September

St. Jude Walk/Run Champion Sponsor: Philadelphia 

  • #1 Fundraising team – raised over $43K($20k was company match)
  • $100,000 raised in just 3 years
  • 40 team members from multiple locations

Young Men and Women in Charge

  • Donated to YMWIC to support their efforts to increase workforce diversity by preparing underserved youth for STEM careers through after-school and summer programs for K-12 students, college scholarships and internships.

November

  • Thanksgiving Food Drive
    • Philabundance
      • Supported by Cherry Hill, Brookhaven, and Upper Darby offices
      • Donated over two car loads of food + $400 cash
    • Connecticut Food Bank
      • Supported by Rocky Hill Office
      • Donated one full carload of food

December

Toys for Tots

  • Toy Drive for Toys for Tots
    • Cherry Hill, Upper Darby, Brookhaven, and Conshohocken locations all participated in collecting toys, as well as monetary donations, for Camden County Toys for Tots.
    • Rocky Hill location participated in collecting toys and monetary donations for Hartford County.
    • Riggs was presented with the Commander’s Award for our support.
