As an Assistant Estimator you will assist the estimating staff by doing detailed take-offs for construction projects. You will also have a role in developing thorough and accurate project cost estimates to ensure customer expectations and business goals are attained. The salary range is $66,000.00 – $80,000.00.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, mapping, specifications, and related documents
  • Assists in identifying labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, mapping, specifications, and related documents
  • Assists in computing costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Assists in preparing estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Attends site visits with stakeholder. Approximately 20% of time will be spent in the field
  • Solicit proposals from vendors and analyze them for best value

Education, Skills, Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Construction Management preferred
  • Entry Level acceptable.  Minimal estimating experience or project management experience would be beneficial to the applicant.
  • Proficient computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Experience with estimating software. Experience with BlueBeam or other take-off software
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid
  • Project Management Experience
  • Utility Construction Experience
  • Knowledge of Project Management
  • Hands on experience with complex data research activities
  • Good understanding of data analysis methods and KPIs
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical-thinker and problem-solver
  • Knowledge of Environmental Guidelines
