Project Overview

Riggs Distler completed three solar power facility developments on behalf of several clients in central New Jersey in one central location. The projects were completed during different mobilizations and different seasons, requiring fast response and adaptable scheduling by our project managers and field crews.

Challenges Overcome

The main project challenges included the lead times for materials and short windows for construction. Careful scheduling and coordination of Riggs Distler staff and resources was of the highest importance. Additional crew members and field management worked overtime and on weekends in order to meet our clients’ project schedules.

5MW Solar Installation:

  •    Installation of four 1,040kw advanced energy inverter skids
  •    Installation of one 520kw advanced energy inverter skid
  •    Installation of 22,711 solar modules (7,202 215-watt; 7,202 220-watt; & 8,307 225-watt)
  •    Installation of a Schletter driven post racking system
  •    S&C electric switchgear
  •        13.8kv Direct connection to grid

6.7MW Solar Installation:

  •    Installation of two 2,000kw advanced energy inverter skids
  •    Installation of one 1,500kw advanced energy inverter skid
  •    Installation of 23,078 solar modules (290-watt)
  •    Schletter driven post racking system
  •    S&C electric switchgear
  •    13.8kv Direct connection to grid

  •    Installation of a 1,000kw advanced energy inverter skid
  •    Installation of 4,796 solar modules (295-watt)
  •    Schletter driven post racking system
  •    S&C electric switchgear
  •    13.8kv Direct connection to grid

Results Delivered

Despite a challenging schedule and a complex series of installations, Riggs Distler completed each solar facility on time and according to the client’s specifications. The electricity generated by the 5MW solar plant was ultimately sold to the Social Security Administration as part of a PPA agreement, and the electricity generated by the other facilities was sold into the open market for Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs).
