Battery Enclosure Addition For Substation

Posted on June 29, 2020 in News
Riggs Distler’s Substation Group recently completed a Battery Enclosure Addition Project. The project required the removal of an antiquated 125VDC battery system inside the substation control room, and new construction to relocate a new battery system outside.
This project required below and above grade substation construction. The Substation Group performed hydro excavation and mechanical excavation to install rebar, forms and pour concrete footers, a retaining wall, and a battery enclosure pad. In addition to the civil work, we were tasked with installing below grade grounding and conduit. The enclosure was set onto the pad and the above grade grounding and conduits were installed. Railings and bollards were installed to protect the enclosure.
Throughout the course of the project, we took special care to ensure our team was adhering to social distancing guidelines. Adhering to these guidelines and meeting our client’s deadline were key concerns and Riggs Distler was able to complete this project safely, on time and under budget. As a result, the substation now has a more reliable and efficient battery backup system.
